Fortress of Gori or "Goris tsikhe" is located on a rocky hill in the center of Gori. Unfortunately, only a small part of the castle has been preserved. The Fortress was significantly damaged by the strong earthquake in 1920. The panoramic view from the top of the castle is beautiful and worth seeing.

After exploring Gori and its places of interest continue your trip to a very old cave town-Uplistsikhe. It is far from Gori for about 25 min.
Uplistsikhe and its surrounding area are astonishing. You will see many cave rooms, which used to be home for many people. The town is located in a rock-hewn, on the left bank of the river Kura (Mtkvari). Specialists believe that it is one of the ancient settlements in the Caucasian region. If you compare Vardzia and Uplistsikhe, you will see that Uplistsikhe does not have clear divisions like Vardzia. It looks like something formless. Of course, the view from the top of the complex is amazing.
